Mt. Everest Expedition
Mt. Everest the highest mountain in the world Mountain Everest was first ascended Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal on Nepal on 29th may 1953. This British expedition was led by John Hunt. The first expedition of Everest was led by Lt. Colonel Charles Howard-Bury in 1921. The early attempts were made from the Tibetan side as Nepal was closed to outsiders until 1950, more than thousand climbers have climbed Everest and among them Apa Sherpa has ascended the Peak 21 times. The most commonly used route up the mountain is the South-east Ridge. Reinhold Messner and Peter Habelar were the first to climb to the summit without the aid of bottled oxygen and Messner also became the first to accomplish a solo climb. He was also the first to climb all the fourteen eight-thousanders, a feat emulated by many today.
